This Privacy Policy describes how Savemate ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our personal finance application and related services.
Information We Collect
We collect basic user information such as your phone number, account details, and financial transaction data necessary to provide our services. This information is used only to deliver, maintain, and improve the Savemate experience.
Personal information: name, email address, phone number, profile information, and account credentials.
Financial information: if you connect financial accounts through third-party providers such as Plaid, we may collect account balances, transaction data, and spending categories. We do not store your bank login credentials.
Usage data: app activity (such as savings behavior and interactions), device information, and log data (IP address, device type, operating system).
SMS & Authentication
We use SMS messaging via Twilio to send one-time passcodes for authentication and account security. Message frequency is limited to authentication events. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-In: Users opt in to receive SMS messages by entering their phone number during account creation in the Savemate mobile app. Consent is explicit and is never pre-checked or assumed.
Opt-Out: Users may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message received from Savemate. To get help, reply HELP to any message or contact us at support@savemates.app.
SMS Data Sharing: No mobile information, phone numbers, or SMS opt-in data will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing is limited to subprocessors that support the SMS service, such as Twilio for message delivery. Twilio's handling of this data is governed by Twilio's own privacy policy, available at https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy.
How We Use Your Data
Your information is used to authenticate your account, provide our financial tracking features, enable social comparisons with friends you choose to connect with, and improve our services. We do not sell user data to third parties.
We also use it to generate savings insights, communicate with you (updates and notifications), and ensure security and prevent fraud.
Social Features
Savemate includes social features that allow users to share savings activity, view activity of connected users, and participate in leaderboards. You control what is shared. Please be mindful when enabling social features.

We use third-party services to operate Savemate, including financial data providers (such as Plaid), SMS delivery (Twilio), analytics tools, and cloud hosting and storage providers. These providers process your data under their own privacy policies, including the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and limited internal access to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. See our Information Security Policy for details.

We retain your data as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
